We believe that if we make a concentrated effort together that not only will being self-sufficient in the resources need to run a home become easier but, also a mainstream thing for us in the United States. Looking at where technology is and the lowering cost of using “alternative” resources we can see that it is no longer just a dream to become more responsible in our handling of the Earth. And for those of us who love the Earth too but, worry about cost, we see it being the cheaper alternative then staying “plugged in” in the future.
We would also like to acknowledge that their are some great sites out there that have tackled this before us, but most are from other countries, so we thought why not the US too. We have included RSS feeds from agencies working in the US to help get the information out there about the strides and roadblocks that are happening here now.
We believe that it will take a community effort to change the way resources are used. In the long run these changes will not only make the planet we live on better, but make our standard of living to change for the better. As parents, we consider it our duty to think about what we are teaching our children about taking care of their world. We not only tell our children to clean their rooms but, show them by cleaning ours, how can it be any different outside our homes?
We welcome any comments, questions, and input. We want this to be a community effort, so that everyone can have a voice on making our Home, Earth, a better place. We are still working on the site at this time so please be patient if things change, are missing, or generally go wrong right now. This site is important to us and we wanted to get things going as fast as possible so we are doing our tweaking as we go.
